​PRE READERS & ASSISTED​

Pre Readers-

Kindergarten 

This is 5-6 year old children that are showing interest in writing, reading and can maintain attention to an activity for 10-15 minutes. Students will learn to read, complete projects, number sense and computation and core academics.

PRE ASSESSMENT SKILLS

  • Fully potty trained

  • Holds a pencil or other objects in pincher grasp firmly

  • Writes some letters or numbers

  • Able to follow 2 step directions

  • Interested in social activities and able to work with friends

  • Stays focused on an activity for 10 minutes

  • Is able to clean up an activity when it is time to move on

  • Speaks in clear 3-5 word sentences

Assisted Readers-

1st grade- 2nd grade

This is 5-8 year old children that are ready to read, can identify and blend letters and sounds. These students can maintain an activity for 15-20 minutes, follow 3 step directions, and write basic structures. We will explore phonics, sight words, writing sentences. Students at this level can write and recognize numbers 0-100 and understand that numbers can be manipulated. Students can be in this group for 1-3 years depending on progress and individual goals.

PRE ASSESSMENT SKILLS

  • Can identify all letters

  • Interested in writing letter or trying words

  • Interested in reading

  • Able to follow 3 step directions

  • Can take turns and safely expresses emotions

  • Stays focused on an activity for 15-20 minutes

  • Can follow a schedule and routine
